Washington D.C. Trip

Students, teachers and parents will be departing on May 16th, 2017 for the school's twenty-eighth trip to Washington D.C.


Science Day @ KI

Mr. Gast's top fourteen scoring science students travel to Kings Island to participate in Science and Math Day.

Field Day

Four teams of 6th, 7th and 8th graders will battle in a variety of events that conclude the school year.  Good luck!

Indians Game

Selected students are provided the opportunity to take in an Indians baseball game in Indianapolis.

Career Excursions

Eighth graders are provided opportunities in career planning through field trips to JA Finance Park and New Castle's Vocational Program / Career Day .

SMS Dances

Students have several opportunities during the year to show off their best dance moves. 

National Junior Honor Society

NJHS members are recognized and participate in community service projects.

Small Mall

Mrs. DeSutter's class creates a simulated shopping center providing marketing opportunities.

Student Council

Selected 6th, 7th and 8th grade students work to improve  student experiences and the school.

Climb Time

Interested eighth grade students travel to Climb Time in Indy to test their "wall climbing" skills. 

 Canoe Trips
8th grade students have the opportunity to take two annual canoe trips down the White River.


Students have fun after school trying to master their slacklining skills.  Walking on a two inch strap stretched between two trees isn't easy..
