I was born in Columbia, South Carolina along with my fraternal twin brother Andrew. After moving several times as a child, my family settled down in Grayling, Michigan where my brother and I attended junior high and high school. In 1995 I graduated from Grayling High school and immediately enrolled at Anderson University with the intention of majoring in Music Business. Throughout high school my plan was to obtain a degree in Music Business and work in the music industry for a major record label as an A & R representative. After about a year and a half in college, however, I decided that the music industry was not the right fit for me and changed my major to Bible. During my senior year in college I served as the lay pastor of youth at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel. In May of 1999 I graduated from Anderson University with a major in Bible and a minor in Music Performance. The night before I was scheduled to graduate I met my future wife Mica. Although she was no longer a student at AU by that time, we met in a dorm room on the AU campus. After dating that fall, we were engaged the following May (1 year to the day we met) and were married two months later.

Following graduation I began working for the Center for Mental Health in Anderson in the Access Department where I scheduled new clients and helped with suicidal callers. I later changed positions and began working as a case manager with adults with mental illness. After working several years at CMH, I felt a desire to work with children and obtained a position working as a case manager with children with disabilities. I found this career challenging but decided that I did not want to raise a family in this profession. In August of 2003 I went back to graduate school at Indiana Wesleyan University to become a School Counselor and graduated in August of 2005 from IWU with my Masters degree in School Counseling. Following graduation I immediately began working at Tri Junior-Senior High School in Straughn, IN. After working at Tri for three years I had the wonderful opportunity to join the staff at Shenandoah High School.

In addition to working at SHS I have also taught at Ivy Tech in Anderson. When I am not at work, I love to spend time with my daughter and beautiful wife as well as serve as the Head Instructor for Anderson Christian Martial Arts.  I am also a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indiana Pacers, and Chicago Cubs. My wife and I are members of Bethany Christian Church in Anderson where together I serve as an Elder and together we coordinate a ministry for families with a disabled family member.
